The Connecting Memories Film Screenings Series.

Thanks to everyone that came along to the Connecting Memories film screenings this semester.
The series was a great success.
We hope that you enjoyed watching the films as much as we enjoyed curating the series.

This semester we will be showing a series of films that, while widely divergent, all revolve around questions of memory. Each film will be very briefly introduced and there will be an opportunity to discuss the films afterwards.

As well as offering an opportunity to see an exciting selection of international films relating to the topic of memory, these weekly events will provide occasions for local researchers to congregate regularly and strengthen their connections with other scholars working on memory across the university.

A broad range of films has been selected, with each film from a different country and a different decade. A combination of well-known titles and less famous features, the films approach the question of memory from vastly differing perspectives. Individual and collective identity are, predictably, recurrent themes. Questions of knowledge, narrative and perspective also feature prominently as the films probe notions of truth and authenticity as well as responsibility, justice and guilt.
